9-year-old boy turns his garage into a shelter to help stray animals

Homelessness is a huge problem for animals all over the world. Even if it’s nearly impossible to keep a count, the World Health Organization estimates that over 200 million animals around the planet do not have a home. Sadly, the problem doesn’t look fixable soon!

And while most of the people show indifference when it comes to help innocent animals, some of them are capable to do impossible things for the seeks of the four-legged ones. And this 9-year-old boy from Philippines is definitely among those kind humans.

Even since he was just a little boy, Ken wanted to run his own shelter. He was always such a big hearted person and always willing to help those in need. And what a better way to show that, but taking care of helpless animals.

Ken’s dream finally came true after some people decided to donate for his cause. With them and with the help of his father, the little boy turned a garage into a shelter. “Ever since I can remember I wanted to open an animal shelter to help the stray dogs and cats on the streets,” Ken said.

But since such a gesture always gets rewarded, it didn’t took too long until Ken’s story went viral and a lot of people showed their interest in supporting his cause. “Some very kind people who saw these pictures donated money to help me care for the dogs,” the kid said. “We got enough money to get the dogs I was feeding off the street, feed them high quality canned food, and provide them with veterinary care.”

Ken wants to continue what he started and he wants to help as much animals as possible. His kindness knows no limits. “The official at the pound said most dogs are put down because only 20-30% of owners claim their dogs, and no animal welfare organization is doing something about it,” Ken said. “I want to save as many of those dogs as I can.”

Thank you Ken! You’re such a hero.
