Argos is selling these ‘parasol Christmas trees’ for cat owners

A “HALF Christmas tree” on sale at Argos has been mocked by shoppers for looking like a “bog brush”. The tree – which only has branches on the top half – is designed to be cat and child-proof but customers say it looks “ugly”.

Cats are extremely cute, but they can be a nightmare when it comes to Christmas decorations. A quick search on YouTube and you can see why – our small furry friends love playing with baubles, tinsel and fairy lights, which inevitably means they don’t stay on the tree for long.

So if you’re a cat owner but still want a Christmas tree, Argos might have just the thing for you. The company is selling a six-foot tree which is only a half parasol, meaning playful cats can’t get their paws on the decorations.

The 6ft Half Parasol Christmas Tree – which is currently on offer at £33.33 down from £50 – is described by Argos as a “parasol” because it has a long, thin, branch-free trunk, and then a head of bristles at the top.

But one shopper said it looks much more like the brush you use to clean a toilet with. It’s been mercilessly mocked online because of its strange appearance. Argos argues that the tree “keeps your perfectly placed baubles, bows and bells out of reach of curious, crawling kids or your cats’ playful paws.”  If you fancy setting your feline the challenge, you can order one here. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals!
