Brave family rescues bear found swimming with a plastic jar on its head

Black bears are huge animals as they could easily reach up to 600 pounds. Therefore, a close encounter with such a large beast is definitely something no one’s seeking for. But this family’s kindness went beyond that fear, when they found this young black bear in trouble.

Brian Hurt from Wisconsin was in a fishing trip on the Marsh-Miller Lake with his wife Tricia and their son Brady, when he suddenly spotted a huge creature struggling to reach the shore. But only when the family got closer, they realized it’s a black bear, in desperate need of help. The wild animal was found swimming with its head stuck in a plastic tube. Brian knew the poor animal could had drown, so he decided to put his life on the line to help the powerless bear.

“We are pretty sure it would not have made it to shore,” Tricia told CNN.  “We knew we had to do something. It was really huffing and puffing.” So they got as close as possible to the bear and somehow Brian has managed to pull on the plastic jar. However, it required a second attempt to finally released the distressed animal. Then, the relieved bear started to swim to shores, to the excitement of its saviors.

“We were so excited,” the woman said. “We did our good deed for the day…and it felt good to help the poor bear. You don’t like to see animals struggle.”

The dramatic rescue was caught on camera by Tricia who decided to share it on Facebook, so everyone to know the bear is safe now. “We wanted everyone to know that the bear was OK,” she said. Tricia’s post immediately went viral gaining over 1,2 million views.

“Never dreamt we would ever do this in our life time,” the woman wrote on Facebook. “Out on Marshmiller Lake yesterday with Brian Hurt and Brady Hurt when we spotted this poor bear. He made it to shore after all that.” Thousands of people applauded the Hurts’ bravery and determination to set the poor animal free.

“Oh my goodness my heart stopped for a minute!” one person wrote.”Thank you for being there and being brave enough to do something! Send this clip to the news!” While another one added: “This is so heroic and compassionate. You all are the best!”
