Carly Simon pops West Village crib back on the market

Celebrated Golden Globe/ Academy Award/ Grammy-winning singer/songwriter, Carly Simon, 67, paid $1.2M for her New York City duplex pied-a-terre back in 2004. In 2008 when asked why she was selling her duplex in the West Village (with an asking price of $3.850 million), she explained, “I’m not in New York enough now.” Five years later, she is re-listing the bohemian  home cutting the asking price to $2.975 million.

There are no swank facilities or services on the premises, but the early Federal style redbrick townhouse is located in a delightful sought-after residential area of the extremely costly and gentrified West Village (in Greenwich Village). Carly Simon renovated the duplex keeping, however, many of the original features: two wood burning fireplaces, exposed brick and wide plank wood floors.

On the lower level there is a small vestibule with a laundry closet and a bathroom, next to it there is a living room with a wood burning fireplace and the openings flanking it connect through to the trapezoid kitchen equipped with not very expensive appliances. There is also a staircase wrapping around the kitchen which gets to a small landing with three small closets. In the sitting room Carly Simon inconsonantly installed a baby grand piano as well as a claw-footed soaking bath. On either side of the sitting room are a small bedroom and a half-bathroom.

Carly’s main residence is a 5,000 sq ft luxury compound (Martha’s Vineyard, MA), which contains other residences and outbuildings, a swimming pool and a tennis court. That should be quite enough for the lady. Let us wish her good luck with her enterprise!
