These tourists will definitely have a whale of a tale, after they have been witnessed to a once in a lifetime moment! A huge humpback whale breached out of water just a few feet away from a boat full of tourists, leaving them absolutely speechless. Thankfully, one of the tourists managed to capture the dramatic scene on camera. As you may guess, the footage went viral all over the social media.
The stunning video was filmed on August 20th by Cassie Jensen, in the waters of Vava’u, Tonga. You can see how the mother whale is launching itself into the air, before slamming back and give some showers over the curious tourists.
“We had a few swims with them and mom woke up and decided it was time for some fun,” the woman who filmed the incredible scene, told Newsflare. “She started breaching several times next to the boat, putting on a show for us – her last one only feet from the stern.”
Earlier this year, another viral captures of a humpback whale made waves on social media. That time, a humpback whale in Monterey Bay, Canada came out of nowhere, bursting the calm waters of the sea, near an unsuspecting fishermen boat. The results was a speechless image captured by the wildlife photographer, Douglas Croft.
“It was quite exciting! Salmon season coincides with the time when humpbacks are returning to Monterey Bay to feed for the summer, and there were hundreds of boats on the bay fishing,” the photographer told the Caters News Agency.
