Actor Larry Hagman, who made a memorable character out of J.R.Ewing of soap opera Dallas, passed away last autumn, at the age of 81, leaving behind two estates, one in Santa Monica and another in Ojai, California. His wife, suffering from Alzheimers, unfortunately, has no more use of them.
The luxury Santa Monica beachfront penthouse is listed for 5.2 million and their 43-acre Ojai ranch, nicknamed ‘Heaven’ is on the market as well at $6.495 million, lowered from the original $11 million asking price. While the Tuscan-style 20,000 square-foot manse features nine bedrooms, nine bathrooms and five swimming pools, the 3,029 square-foot contemporary-style penthouse condo boasts two bedrooms and three bathrooms. Both residences, the Ojai sprawling property and the Santa Monica condo have breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.
The condo is atop the posh 101 Ocean Avenue building built in 1963 and features floor-to-ceiling windows and a semi-private glass elevator shared with seven other tenants. Amenities include three parking spaces, a swimming pool, a gym and round-the-clock security. To those who equate the actor with the billionaire oil baron J.R.Ewing, the character magnificently portrayed by him, $11-12 million sounds rather scant.
