Mom thinks “furry convention” is for dogs – takes her therapy dog there and becomes famous

Thinking that “furry” can only be related to dogs, this woman in New York became an internet sensation, after she took her beloved therapy pup to the Motor City Furry Convention!

Cheryl Wassus, the mother of New York Media senior producer Kenny Wassus, learned the city will host a “furry convention,” where money will be raised for a good cause: to help veterans to be paired with dogs. So Cheryl – a kind soul, and her therapy furry companion – Link, knew they have to be there. But little did the woman know that she and her beloved pup will become internet sensations, instead.

Even though, Link shortly adapted to this new furry world. “I learned so much about this whole new culture of people who get together and dress up in furry costumes,” the woman said. “I had no idea I was walking into Furry Con. It was a little embarrassing at first because Link was just a little curious why people were wearing tails, so he was doing some serious tail-sniffing and checking out people. They weren’t offended, though, they just embraced him. It was all good. Just a real interested community. ”

Now, when she found out what a furry convention actually means, Cheryl says she consider herself a little bit too old for this furry culture. So when asked if she’d ever attend to a similar event, she gave an hilarious response: “No, I don’t think so. No. You know, you get a little older…and being in that many layers and layers of fur. No need to be overheating [in a furry costume]. I’m good.”

Of course, when Kenny Wassus took Twitter to let people know about his mom’s feat, his post immediately went viral with so many people showing their enthusiasm over the lovely story.
