You really need to know the irresistible taste of sushi to understand these unusual thieves. Anyway, they actually have gone too far, since the police officers have forced to intervene. And don’t be scared, because we’re talking about two “waddling vagrants” penguins who decided that a side of sushi it’s worth the effort.
Only they ended up ‘temporarily detained’ by the Wellington District Police in New Zealand. The officers have been noticed by a staff member. Scared, he alerted the authorities after he heard some strange noises came out of the mobile food track, the Fox News reports.
The bandits were soon identified, by the Wellington District Police as two penguins and after that, released back into the wild of Wellington Harbor, HuffPost reported.
According to the police department, the thieves were not at their first offence. “The waddling vagrants were removed from their sushi stand refuge earlier today by Constable John Zhu. Unsurprisingly, this was not the first report Police had received about the fishy 🐠 birds,” WDP wrote in a Facebook post.
“It’s pretty insane the idea that some penguins are camping out under your shop,” sushi shop worker Wini Morris told Radio NZ of the wild tale. “But it’s adorable I think – they’re probably terrified but it’s adorable.”
