Psychologist believes that dogs dream about the humans they love

As a dog owner, it is always amusing when I watch my puppy dreams vividly during his sleep. She even moves sometimes or barks softly. But as most of dog owners, I am really curios what my lovely dog is dreaming about. Dr. Deirdre Barrett, a Harvard psychologist, has been studying about humans’ sleep behavior for years. Along the way, Dr. Barrett also learned some things about how animals dream.

It turns out that dogs as many of the mammals, have almost the same sleep cycles as humans. According to Dr. Barrett, “That certainly makes it the best guess that other mammals are dreaming, too.” he said in an interview with People. Dogs, like humans, undergo a stage called Rapid Eye Movement or REM, the phase in the sleep cycle where mammals experience dreaming.

When asked about what dogs might be experiencing when dreaming, Dr. Barrett says that “since dogs are generally extremely attached to their human owners, it’s likely your dog is dreaming of your face, your smell and of pleasing or annoying you.”

Well, my question is if I can do anything to ensure that my cute puppy is only dreaming about pleasing things. And Dr. Barrett has a response for that question, too. “The best way to give ourselves or our children better dreams is to have happy daytime experiences and to get plenty of sleep in a safe and comfortable environment,” he said.

Whatever they’re dreaming about, it is always amusing to watch dogs while sleeping. Take a look!
