Steve Martin’s stunning colonial-style $10.5m villa

Comedian Steve Martin’s St Barthélemy villa, dubbed Villa Au Soleil, is nestled high in the hills above the Caribbean. The luxury colonial-style spread features four bedrooms, open-plan living space plus a dining-room. Outdoors it boasts lush verdant tropical gardens, a two-tiered infinity pool, and several sundecks and  terraces. The villa provides 180-degree views of St Jean Baie, which are second to none, according to the actor. The Martins purchased the fully-furnished retreat in 2008 and not long ago renovated it in a Caribbean-American style mixture. In between making his films, he and his family used this genuine haven to relax away from the hectic life of Tinseltown and to entertain guests. While the family were away, the villa was rented out.

The island, which used to be the only Swedish colony in the Caribbean, until it went back to the French, its original colonisers, is a noted private getaway for celebrities, being small and hard to reach. Situated in the NW of Antigua, St Barts is a place for safe relaxation in style. The tourists can be accommodated in several hotels and mostly in exclusive villas like Steve Martin’s. Among the celebrities that have made their appearance on the island in the past few years the following are worth mentioning: Denzel Washington, Jon Bon Jovi, Kate Moss, Naomi Watts, Simon Cowell, Paul Mc Cartney, Jay Z, Beyoncé, Roman Abramovich – to name just a few.
