Golden Globe Award-winner and Academy Award-nominee Matthew McConaughey and his fiancee, Brazilian model Camila Alves have reportedly purchased an 8.75-acre property outside Austin. The couple must have been hunting for a home to suit the needs of their family with two tots, according to the listing, it is “within walking distance to the area’s finest and public schools.” This home was on and off the real estae market for five years and underwent several price cuts in the process, so for McConaughey the purchase might have been something of a bargain.
Nestled on a 16-acre peninsula facing Lake Travis, this 9,760 square-foot luxury compound was built in 2004 in the style of Villa Rotunda in Vicenza, Italy. Noted architect David Shiflet copied the layout of the Italian palazzo, placing in the middle of the home an impressive grand rotunda with domed ceiling and flawless Venetian moldings on the rounded walls.
This is not the first house the Academy Award winner and producer has bought and got rid of. The reason this time she no longer needs this luxury ‘refuge’ as she did in the middle of her divorce from reality TV celeb Jesse James – why linger on old memories, after all? Sandra Bullock has decided to move on and is now living in Los Angeles with her 3-year-old son Louis, whom she and her ex-husband adopted in New Orleans in 2010.
