It is the second time since 1999, when the famous British couple formed of footballing celeb David and ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham purchased the Rowneybury House in Hertfordshire for £2.5 million ($3.8M), that they have put it up for sale: first in 2010 (price tag: $18M) when they decided to settle in Los Angeles for good, and now that they have relocated back to Britain and determined to live the cosmopolitan London life together with their fours children, closer to the former pop star turned fashion designer head office of Victoria’s fashion business in Battersea.
The luxury country estate, dubbed the Beckingham Palace by the press, has undergone major improvements and several important additions have been made such as a cutting edge recording studio, helipad, snooker room, gym, a 52-ft marble-floored garden pavilion, a floodlit tennis court and indoor and outdoor pools. The Georgian-style country mansion, which used to be a council-run children’s home in the 1930s, also has a petting farm with miniature animals and vast manicured grounds.
The couple would not like rapacious developers to break up the 22-acre property where they threw countless posh do’s and turn it into luxury flats, thus cashing in on their celebrity, so they are in no hurry to sell it until they find someone keen to preserve the estate.
