Casey Kasem, the host of ”American Top 40” started in 1970 and famous voice actor, and his wife, Jean, (voice) actress, now empty nesters, have decided to unload their “gated revival property” in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles.
The 12,000 square feet of living space include 7 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms and has hosted intimate interviews and sleepovers while the grounds have been the venue of famous star-studded theme parties and paintball games. The luxury digs sprawled over 2.4 acres in a hedged and gated area were a gift Casey bought for his wife in 1989. They spent years rebuilding, updating and expanding the property.
Notable features of the multi-winged estate are the fabulous antiques, the striking color and texture throughout the home, the circular motor court with a central fountain built around an ornate piece of the Brooklyn Bridge, the window treatments including replicas of historic fabrics to match with the furnishings, the fireplaces in the family room, the library, the two master suites and even one in the bathroom, a heart-shaped swimming pool – to name just a few. There are a number of rooms with specific purposes such as a butler’s pantry, a hair salon and a design studio. The couple’s favorite room was the library filled with books from all over the world. There are landscaped grounds, manicured lawns, a shrubbery- and tree-lined driveway, a golf course, fruit trees and a tennis court. Might the couple be downsizing, we wonder?
