An absolutely heart melting footage showing a little boy while celebrating his first steps with his beloved pup, went viral with millions of views
Roman Dinkel, a two years old toddler from Overland Park, Kansas was born with a birth defect called spina bifida, made him unable to walk. However, beating all the odds, the little warrior made his first steps by his own, after one year of therapy. And since the moment was the happiest of his life he shared it with his best fella, Maggie!
“Look, Maggie! I’m walking, Maggie!” the adorable kid was saying, overwhelmed by enthusiasm.
“Before he was born, we were told that there was a chance that he wouldn’t be able to walk,” Roman’s dad, Adam Dinkel, told “Good Morning America.” “[We were] scared, confused on why this was happening. And fear is really the big kicker, because you want all your children to have a wonderful life.”
Since day one, Roman was a fighter and the perfect optimist. Always with a big smile on his face, Roman is incredible cute. “He’s everybody’s best friend,” Whitney Dinkel, the boy’s mom said. “He could make even the grumpiest person smile.”
Since the video was first shared on Facebook, it gained more than 26 million views with people absolutely touched by it. Maggie must be so proud, because Roman definitely is!
Roman’s mom said she received tons of messages from people who wanted to show their support or to explain how moved they were by the footage! “From random people telling us their story, you know, how they were depressed…or how they were going through these medical situations and to see that he influenced them in a positive way to change their mindset and change their view it’s just so heartwarming,” toddler’s mom said.
Roman even has a Facebook page where his family constantly share updates of his recovery. And the things are just getting better and better. “Not only did he walk all over the yard but then he walked across the street and down the road and turned around and came all the way back,” Witney said.
