Virginia Madsen’s new Hollywood Hills home

One of Tinseltown’s darlings, Academy Award-nominated Virginia Madsen has recently purchased a Hollywood Hills estate for just short of two million dollars.

Built in 1953, the two-story home is spread on a little under 2,999 square feet, includes three bedrooms and two bedrooms and has been recently updated. A flight of curbes stone steps connects the street with a multi-level brick and flagstone terrace wrapping around the front lower level and further up the steep hillside at the back. A stylish foyer leads to a larger living area on the right, which has an arched corner fireplace and a bizarre collection of windows with stained glass transom windows. The dramatically angled kitchen fitted with black granite counter tops, hickory cabinets and top of the line stainless steel appliances is separated from the small dining area by a breakfast bar.

On the upper level there is an ample rectangular living room with a soaring high ceiling, ebony wood flooring, bulky raised hearth fireplace all covered in Travertine-style porcelain tiles and a large bookcase-flanked window which offers sweeping canyon and city lights view. Opposite there are some steps leading to a couple of wood-framed sliding glass doors which open to a small deck. There are two family bedrooms, one of which has mirrored closet doors while the other features a custom-built storage mechanical contrivance with a built-in desk area. The master suite, which leads directly to a terrace, has many angles difficult to decorate.

Prior to this purchase, the long-legged blonde sold her other Californian residence, in Thousand Oaks at a loss.
