It’s so fascinating how wild animals sense those in need, whether we’re talking about ones of their kind, different species or human beings, and this heart-warming story is nothing less.

Mette Kvam is a 81-year-old woman who lives in a breathtaking mountainside area, in Aurland, Norway. But, no matter how relaxing and peaceful the landscape is, when you live out there, all by yourself, it could be so overwhelming. After her husband passed away, the woman was devastating, because she thought she’ll be stay alone for the rest of her days. But one day something really incredible happened.

The old woman was at her window, trying to keep away the loneliness by admiring the beautiful landscape, when she spotted a wild stag approaching. Instead of chasing it away, Mette decided to offer it some bread. A gesture that she’ll never regret. Because from that point on, the wild animal keeps visiting her at least twice a day.

Over the last four years, the two are spending their time together and they formed such a special bond. The woman even named her unlikely companion Flippen and thanks to him, loneliness is out of the menu.

Thankfully, a woman named Britt was travelling in the area and when she spotted the duo interacting, she decided to capture the adorable scenes on camera. “She says that they are so lucky for having each other,” Britt Haugsevje Vangn told Caters News. “Mette has no kids and since her husband passed away she has no one — she only has Flippen in her life now. It seems like they are best friends.”
