Woman adopts old dog from shelter, finds out it’s her childhood puppy

Sometimes we hear about stories we can’t imagine to be true. It’s the case of a woman Nicole whose fairytale story will definitely brighten your day.

The Pennsylvania based Nicolae Grimes was looking to adopt a dog. So she started to search on Facebook pups that were up for adoption. While searching she noticed something very unusual at a cute pomeranian-poodle mix. The dog looked so familiar reminding her of her sweet doggy she owned when she was just a child.

Back then, when Nicole was celebrating her ten anniversary, she received the perfect present from her grandma. A beautiful dog, called Chloe. They quickly became best friends being almost inseparable for almost four years.

Sadly, when her father found a new job and the whole family was supposed to move into another city, Nicole had to leave her beloved puppy behind. So she dropped him off at Washington Area Human Society, as she recently recalled the heartbreaking moment for BBC:

“I was 10 years old and all I wanted was a puppy,” she explained. “She was wearing a pink bow when Nana gave her to me. We were best friends. My dad got a new job working from home but Chloe was too yappy and he had to be on the phone all the time. I remember my dad picked me up from school when I was 14 with the dog in the back seat. I knew we had to give her away.”

But sometimes, even the heartbreaking stories could have the happiest ending. And this is what happened in this case. When the woman went to pick up her new adopted dog she soon realized that the 11-year-old doggo is actually her beloved Chloe.

“When I found out they were both called Chloe it was really strange,” Nicole said. “It just clicked when she was introduced to me as Chloe. When she was dropped off she came running up to me and was licking my face. Then I knew in my heart that she had to be the same dog.”

Anyway, Nicole and her husband were still a little bit sceptical, so they checked the dog’s microchip. And incredibly the suspicions were confirmed. So, after seven years apart Chloe and Nicole have been officially reunited. Visible overwhelmed, Nicole couldn’t believe it.

“She is a little smaller and has no teeth, but she still loves to run around,” she said. “They love to play with each other. Chloe is very gentle with Violet and it warms my heart to see them together. I felt like I won the lottery. I never thought I’d see her again.”
