Authorities hope to identify woman caught on video dumping newborn puppies in dumpster

Authorities are trying to identify a woman captured by security cameras tossing seven newborn puppies into a dumpster in Coachella, Southern California.

The heartless woman was captured on surveillance camera around 1 p.m. pulling up in a Jeep and getting out of the vehicle carrying a plastic bag, where the poor little puppies were kept, Fox News reports.

In a Facebook post, the Riverside County Animal Services said:

“Just after 1 p.m. on Thursday, a woman in a Jeep pulled up, exited the Jeep carrying a plastic bag in one of her hands and walked toward a Dumpster used for recycling materials. She shut the recycling Dumpster and dropped the clear, plastic bag next in a trash Dumpster and drove away.”

“Shortly afterward, a passerby, named John, rummaged through the trash and noticed the bag and brought it into the Napa store. If not for the Good Samaritan’s actions, the puppies may not have survived much longer. The mid-day temperatures in Coachella on Thursday were in the mid-90s range.”

Officials declared that it not been for the Good Samaritan’s actions, the poor puppies may not have survived, Fox News reports. In a statement, Animal Services Commander Chris Mayer declared:

“The Good Samaritan played a major role in saving theses puppies’ lives. His actions were humane and heroic.”

“There is no excuse for dumping puppies,” Mayer said. “Especially in today’s age when we or other shelters would be willing to get these animals to foster parents or rescue partners. This was a shameful act.”

There were seven puppies in the plastic bag with all less than 3-days old. The terrier mix puppies are now at a rescue shelter in Orange County, Fox 11 reports.

The authorities are now hoping that someone will recognize the heartless woman and turn her in.
