While walking across a restaurant, Noah spotted a Lakeland, Florida, police officer eating his breakfast. The nine-year-old boy saw the officer sitting alone at his table. So he knew he must act.
Noah was walking with his mom. So he told her about his plan. And what the little boy did that morning in the restaurant left everyone speechless. Even the police officer jumps up from his seat, after noticing Noah’s heart-melting gesture.
Little boy’s big dream is to become a police office when grow up. And he asked his mom if she allowed him to salute the officer. Her mom, Amanda Cantin said yes. But the 9-year-old boy was so nervous, he didn’t know what to do. Instead he did something charming. He decided to pay for officer’s breakfast from his birthday money.
Helped by his mom, Noah talked with a waitress about his plan. More than that, he also wanted to write a note to the police officer. So he wrote this beautiful message:
“I want to be you when I grow up. Thank you for your service.”
Then, taking a deep breath, Noah took his courage and handed the note to the officer. Officer Eddie Benitez was so impressed he jumped up from his chair to take a photo with his fan.
“He didn’t understand why this little boy was walking down there with his tab. His face was very shocked,” said Amanda.
So touched by Noah’s beautiful gesture, officer Benitez is carrying around the note everyday.
“It meant everything. It meant that I’m supposed to wake up every morning and put on this uniform and go out there and do what I do. You know? It means that I need to keep trying to be a good example to all these young guys,” the officer declared.
The Lakeland Police Department decided to share the photo on their Facebook page. So impressed they were by Noah’s genuine generosity. They also thanked Noah for his beautiful gesture.
“Well Noah, you touched all of our hearts today. Your support means so much to all of the men and women who put on the uniform every day.”
Amanda also declared that she’ll be “one proud mom” if her son will put on a police uniform in someday! Good luck Noah!
